Workshop Protocol

Writing Workshops involve a solid commitment of time. Each person participating will submit twenty-five to thirty pages of material, plus an informational summary of their work, but that’s not where the workshop commitment ends.

A close reading of everyone’s work is fundamental to the experience.  We are to perform at least three close readthroughs of all submissions, which means reading and leaving comments on 450 pages within a month. After that, it is beneficial for you to respond to the author’s Informational summary.

All of this pre-work is essential for the deep and meaningful workshop discussions that will lead to the best feedback—and that’s what we want.

Because there is much heavy lifting between submission and workshop, people must submit their work on time. All written feedback is emailed or hand-delivered on Sunday after the final workshop.

Participants who fail to submit their work on time or provide any written feedback on Sunday will not be eligible to attend the next workshop. If you've already paid to secure your spot at an upcoming workshop, it will be refunded within the week.
